The Chairman of the State Forensic Examination Committee took part in the joint meeting of the collegiums of the Investigative Committees of Belarus and Russia 21 june 2023

The Chairman of the State Forensic Examination Committee Alexey Volkov took part in the joint meeting of the collegiums of the Investigative Committees of Belarus and Russia on June 21 in Brest.

During the event the issue of using the possibilities of expert research in criminal proceedings was considered. At the end of the meeting the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Belarus Dmitry Gora, the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation Alexander Bastrykin and the Chairman of the State Forensic Examination Committee Alexey Volkov signed the Joint Statement.

The participants of the meeting noted more than once that modern crime hasn’t territorial boundaries and there is a tendency for its transition to the virtual space. These circumstances lead to the necessity to develop and use new technologies without which the conduction of some expert research may become difficult. That’s why a serious step in the confrontation against crime is an active cooperation of investigative and expert units of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation.

“Nowadays the field of forensic expert activity requires an ultra-dynamic development. It must be flexible and respond immediately to new challenges and threats. Forensic expert science has a global nature and involves cooperation at the international level. The State Forensic Examination Committee is open for cooperation and ready to accept advanced foreign experience and share with its own scientific developments”, noted Alexey Volkov.

The signing of the Joint Statement will serve as a basis for further mutual implementation of the achievements of science and technology, as well as progressive forms and methods of forensic expert activity of two states. The participants of the event expressed their readiness for further development of the legal basis and to strengthen the interagency cooperation in the field of crime prevention.

After the meeting the participants visited the temple in the Memorial Complex “Brest Hero – Fortress” and laid flowers at the Eternal Flame in memory of the great feat of the heroes who died bravely in the fight against the Nazi invaders during the Great Patriotic War and preserved for us the peaceful sky above.
