The delegation of educational institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan visited the child-friendly interview room operating on the basis of the Directorate of Forensic Psychiatric Examinations of the Central Office of the State Forensic Examination Committee. This visit took place within the framework of an internship for Kazakhstan specialists at the Institute for Retraining and Qualification Upgrading of Judges, Prosecutors, Courts and Legal professionals at the Belarusian State University.

The delegation members got acquainted in detail with the specifics of the organization of work of the child-friendly interview room. The issues of using special knowledge, in particular psychological knowledge, when working with children were discussed in the course of communication with foreign colleagues. The Kazakhstan delegation was particularly interested in the arrangement of the interview room, since a comfortable environment is important for protecting the psychic of a child or a teenager from repeated emotional trauma which helps to reduce anxiety and get the necessary information from juvenile witnesses and victims of crimes. In addition, the children’s interview room provides an opportunity for children to express their thoughts and feelings, the interior of the room including toys, drawing and modeling supplies, and other similar means encourages children to express their emotions and promotes open and trusting communication.
Representatives of the Kazakhstan delegation showed deep interest in the best practices and experience of the State Committee in conducting interviews of children. They highly appreciated the level of professionalism of the Belarusian experts and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to communicate with colleagues and exchange experience in this field of forensic expert activity.
